Widely used in rock gardens and alpine beds, or cascading down rock walls. Butterflies, bees, and birds are attracted to the dainty flower clusters. After bloom, its attractive silvery foliage makes a wonderful ground cover. Provide good drainage in full sun. Named for its similarity to Alyssum, Basket of Gold is not a true Alyssum. Rather, it is a fairly tough and easy perennial plant that blooms from mid-spring to the beginning of summer. Height to 8-30cm (4-12").
Perennial
Timing
Indoors, start Aurinia seeds 8-10 weeks before planting out. Or direct sow in early spring, when there is still a risk of frost, or in early autumn.
Starting
Sow seeds on the surface of the soil. Light is required to help the seeds break their dormancy. At 10-12°C (50-55°F) Aurinia seeds will take 5 to 14 days to sprout.
