It’s been a growing and expanding year at Zocalo. We’ve grown a covered indoor courtyard, we’ve expanded our retail space, we’ve grown our customer base and we birthed a new website! We’ve experienced the joy and growing pains that go with such endeavours and we’re excited to build on those efforts in 2013.
For our team, we’ve had some sad goodbyes and some happy greetings to new Zocalonians. We’ve had laughs and cries, the daily rituals of growing business mixed with crazy busy and quiet cleanup days. We’ve said goodbye to our horticulturist, Lindsay, but we relish in the ideas, jokes and things she taught us. We’ve seen four of us go back to school to learn new things, one of us had a “baby” start grade one, others of us are challenged by new work and learning new skills.
We’ve witnessed changes in the floral and tabletop worlds: suppliers that come and go, wholesalers and retailers that change the landscape of our creative world. We’ve seen some get gobbled up, some get spit out and others that simply went away. We’ve also gained some great new partners: metal artists, glass manufacturers and some new innovative prospects in the horticulture division.
In all this, we mostly thank the people that visit, shop, grow, sip coffee and smell flowers with us each day. You share your weddings, funerals, holidays, birthdays and every days with us. You make us hum. You are our sun. We wish you an abundant year of new growth and simple joys. Thank-you.
